Prof. Yu Zhenli joined Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) in Nov. of 2009. He is serving as the director of Engineering Education Research Group of the School of Engineering and Innovation, SIT.

Prof. Yu received his Ph. D. degree of electronic engineering at the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1998. His bachelor & master degrees were awarded by Zhejiang University.

During Nov. of 1992 to Nov. of 1993, he was a guest researcher at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, where he did research in the area of speech communication, this research is sponsored by Bao Zhao-Long & Bao Yu-Gang Scholarship for Chinese Oversea Studying and Research.

Before 2000, Zhenli was associated professor of Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University (ZJU), where he gave courses of “Speech Processing” and “Digital Signal Processing” for graduates and “Signals and systems” for undergraduates. He was the supervisor of graduate students of master at ZJU.

From Feb. of 2000 to Oct. of 2009, Prof. Yu had been working at Motorola China Research Centre (MCRC), served as Senior Staff Research Engineer, where he had contributed to key technologies of speech synthesis and text-to-speech (TTS), as well as their applications to mobile devices and communication.

Prof. Yu’s main interests of research include speech analysis, speech synthesis, speech recognition, and digital signal processing. He was the organizer of a project funded by NSF of China (the National Fund of Science, China), and the organizer of two projects funded by FSZP (the Fund of Science of Zhejiang Province, China). He has published more than 50 papers on international and domestic magazines and conferences. More than 10 of his papers are indexed by EI. He is also the co-author of 4 innovative patents of China. Another patent application is under assessment.

He was the second awardee of the Award of Science and Technology Progress, Zhejiang Province, China (2nd grade). He also obtained the Award of Science and Technology Progress, Zhejiang Provincial Committee, China (1st awardee). In 1999, he obtained the Award of the Excellent Teacher of Zhejiang University.

Prof. Yu is currently the organizer of a project funded by Railway Ministry of China. He is currently giving the courses of “Fundamentals of Electric Circuit” and “Analog Electronics” for undergraduates.
